Feature article: Making accessible forms part 2

Top tip: Share your knowledge

Many website owners are afraid of sharing their knowledge on their site. “If I tell site visitors what I know for free then how will I make any money?” can be a common reason in coming to this decision. This isn't necessarily true and quite the opposite effect often takes place:

  1. More customers Reading an article about how to do something cannot even come close to years of experience of doing it. Many readers will know this and will be aware that there is a lot more to the subject area than what you're publishing. They may therefore realise that they do need assistance from you (which they'd be willing to pay for!).
  2. Industry expert recognition By regularly publishing unique, interesting and useful content you can establish yourself as an industry expert. People reading a feature written by you may not buy your services straightaway, but when there comes a time when they have a need for what you do you'll undoubtedly be at the forefront of their mind to help them.
  3. Higher search engine ranking Other websites will link to your unique, interesting and useful content as it benefits their site visitors by doing so. These links are seen by search engines as recommendations, the more of which you have the higher in the search rankings your site will appear.

Useful program: Fatbits screen magnifier

Find out how your website looks to a screen magnifier user with this useful program. Fatbits allows you to simultaneously view your website under normal circumstances and through the screen magnifier.
