Head of user experience job vacancy
Webcredible is looking for that special someone to be our new head of UX.
This is a very senior role within the company where you'll have overall responsibility for our entire UX and UCD offering, to include managing a team of 7 consultants. You'll need to have a real passion for user experience and a strong track record of innovative user-centered design thinking.
About the job
Reporting directly to a company director, as head of UX you'll be an authority with first class leadership and influencing skills. You'll work closely with internal teams, prospective clients and existing accounts.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all our UX client projects, from user research to interaction design
- Taking part in some business development activities, especially with existing clients
- Showing full-cycle leadership to the UX team by leading, mentoring and where necessary supporting UX consultants on complex user research and interaction design projects
- Line-managing a team of 7 senior consultants and user experience consultants
- Taking ownership over the company's UX roadmap and driving innovation within the company to ensure we produce outstanding work
- As a member of the senior management team, participating in management meetings and work closely with other senior members of the company
- Running and helping to develop our public UX training courses
- Acting as an industry commentator, giving presentations and writing thought-leading articles to further enhance our reputation
About you
Although you won't be doing hands-on project work, it's essential that you have strong, full-cycle UCD skills covering all aspects of UX research, design and consultancy. You'll need to have exceptional communication skills, to include people management, leadership, presentation and influencing skills.
You'll need to have experience of:
- Working in a user experience consultancy or digital agency as a head of department or senior user experience practitioner
- Being involved with new business activities as the UX representative, giving presentations and scoping/writing proposals
- Managing UX practitioners
- Delivering full-cycle UCD projects (you'll need lots of experience of this!)
- Defining and managing the scope of projects, including budgeting
You should also have a Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction or a similar subject, although you likely would have gained this a while ago.
