CSS / XHTML coding
Webcredible can make behind-the-scenes changes to an existing website or build a website from scratch based on designs you provide. All the work takes place in the HTML and CSS documents, and for existing sites need not affect the look or feel of the site. Our CSS / XHTML coding has a number of benefits:
- Faster download time and reduced bandwidth costs (as HTML page weight is reduced)
- Higher search engine ranking
- Increase in audience to disabled and mobile/PDA users
- Conformance with UK legal requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act
Webcredible cleaned up the HTML of our website and added in loads of accessibility features - all without changing the appearance of the pages at all. The depth of their HTML and CSS knowledge is incredible.

We can also do DOM scripting & accessible JavaScript coding in conjunction with the CSS / XHTML coding.

Find out in more detail about why we're different.
We'll create an action plan for your website, based around the level of usability and accessibility you'd like to achieve and your budget and deadline requirements. CSS / XHTML coding can cover a variety of fixes but will generally involve some of the following:
- Converting from a table layout to a CSS layout
- Simplifying the HTML code
- Changing markup to ensure the HTML coding is web standards compliant
- Adding in advanced accessibility features to aid usability for web users with special needs
The CSS / XHTML coding is carried out by Webcredible's fully-trained in-house accessibility specialists who have highly advanced knowledge of CSS.
We follow best practice guidelines as set down by the Internet governing body, the W3C, and our own unique in-house research. The accessible HTML coding additionally adheres to specialist advice and recommendations as outlined by the EU, DDA , RNIB and DRC.
CSS / XHTML coding for a new website
Webcredible can provide the HTML and CSS code for your new website to ensure that it's fully accessible. All you need to do is provide us with the designs, ideally in PSD format and we'll do the rest! All pages we produce are fully CSS / XHTML compliant.
The work could involve us working alongside your design agency, and/or back-end developers, who may not have the required understanding of accessibility issues. We can provide expert advice or create page templates for the agency to work with.
