Our usability lab and observation room are available to hire - whether you just want to have a go at usability testing yourself or you're already a skilled professional that needs access to such facilities!
What's the usability lab like?

Our usability lab has been purpose-built specifically for usability testing and is fully equipped with microphones and cameras. We use state-of-the-art software (Morae) for you to capture what the user is doing on-screen, together with an audio commentary and a video of the user carrying out the test (see picture below).
In the observation room there is a 32 inch plasma TV mounted in the corner. A screenshot of the participant's computer along with a picture of their face is displayed in real-time on the TV, allowing you to get a full picture of what's going on in the usability lab next door. Additionally, there's a one-way mirror between the usability lab and observation room, so you can invite any stakeholders along to watch the testing live. We recommend you do - watching usability testing live is a truly eye-opening experience!
You'll also get exclusive access to our break out area, where you can relax on our comfy sofas between sessions and during lunchtime.
Yummy biscuits, chocolates, crisps and snacks are on offer to any stakeholders that watch the live testing session. Oh, and of course, there's our infamous free fruit!

How much does it cost?
Hire of our usability lab, observation room and sofa-filled break out area costs a flat fee of £900 + VAT for a full day (9am-5.30pm). Alternatively, the rooms can be hired out for £125 + VAT per hour. The labs can also be hired outside of working hours.
For these prices, you'll receive:
- Full use of the usability lab and observation room
- Exclusive access to our break out area, complete with comfy sofas
- Technical support staff on hand in case of any problems
- Light refreshments
- Full session recordings on DVD
For an additional cost, we can also work with you at any stage of your project and provide you with advice and help on:
- Planning usability tasks
- Facilitation/moderation of usability testing sessions
- Analysis and reporting on usability testing
- Participant recruitment
