Our usability lab and viewing room are available to hire - whether you're looking for purpose-built facilities to carry out usability testing or you're looking to hold user interviews, our usability lab and break out area offers the ideal space and facilities.

Usability lab facilities
Our purpose-built usability lab consists of two rooms specifically designed for usability testing and viewing, but also suitable for holding focus groups and user interviews.
Our usability lab comes fully equipped with:
- 45 inch plasma TV
- Wireless Internet access
- State-of-the-art software (Morae)
- Microphones for audio commentary
- Cameras for live video feed
- One-way mirror between lab and viewing room
- Networked PC
- Whiteboard
- Refreshments
The usability testing rooms
The testing room
The testing room is set up with a networked PC, one-way mirror, cameras and microphones so that one user can go through the testing process accompanied by an interviewer, whilst the test can be viewed live from the viewing room next door.
The viewing room
We strongly advise you watch the usability testing live - it's truly an eye-opening experience. The viewing room is an airy room with wireless Internet access, a large table and a number of comfortable chairs. It can be set up as a meeting room for eight people, and would work just as well in a less formal set up for focus groups and discussions.
The break out area
As part of the usability lab hire, you also get access to our break out area, where you can relax on our comfy sofas between sessions and during lunchtime. Refreshments are provided throughout your time here.
How much does it cost for usability lab hire?
Hire of our usability lab, observation room and sofa-filled break out area costs a flat fee of £650 + VAT for a full day (9.30am-6.00pm). Alternatively, the rooms can be hired out for £100 + VAT per hour. The labs can also be hired outside of working hours.
For these prices, you'll receive:
- Full use of the usability lab and viewing room
- Access to our break out area, complete with comfy sofas
- Technical support staff on hand in case of any problems
- Light refreshments
For an additional cost, we can also work with you at any stage of your project and provide you with advice and help on:
- Planning usability tasks
- Facilitation/moderation of usability testing sessions
- Analysis and reporting on usability testing
- Participant recruitment
