User testing

User testing (or usability testing) involves watching typical customers attempt to complete realistic tasks on your website, application or product. By having us conduct user testing you'll be able to:

  • Increase sales & conversion rates
  • Maximise customer satisfaction
  • Improve brand loyalty

We run user testing on all types of products, to include websites, prototypes, iPhone/iPad & Android apps, intranets, applications and games.

Webcredible carried out user testing for us across two countries. It was an eye-opening experience, particularly being able to watch the testing live in Webcredible's usability lab. The way the tests were conducted was to the highest calibre.

Our user testing facilities

  • You can watch the user testing live from the adjacent viewing room
  • Using state-of-the-art software, we capture exactly what participants are doing on-screen
  • The usability lab seats the participant and the moderator, with the 1-way mirror off to the side
  • The viewing room is a large and comfortable room, seating up to 10 people

The user testing usually takes place in one of our purpose-built usability labs, complete with microphones, cameras and eye tracking. Using state-of-the-art software we're able to capture what users are doing on-screen, together with audio commentary and a video of them. What you'll get from user testing

User testing is truly an eye-opening experience for you. Deliverables from the user testing include:

Robust recommendations for site improvements
Against every single finding from the user testing, we'll provide detailed and prioritised recommendations. We often provide a range of different options and create mock-ups to demonstrate the solution.
Action plan for making changes
We'll run a workshop with you to discuss implementing our recommendations, brainstorming solutions together. The workshop refines our user testing recommendations around your precise needs allowing you to develop a plan-of-action for implementing changes.
Live viewing of user testing sessions
It truly is eye-opening seeing your users attempt to use your website, application or product. Live viewing of user testing can unify internal teams (you can't argue with what your customers do!) and provides you with incredible insights into customer needs.
Increased usability knowledge
Knowledge sharing is at the core of everything we do. Through a close, collaborative approach we make sure that you learn as much as you can from our expertise throughout the user testing process.
Videos of user testing sessions
We'll provide you with full session videos of the user testing as well as highlights clips of the key happenings.

User testing process at a glance

The user testing process usually includes the following 5 key stages:

  1. Planning
We'll work very closely with you to thoroughly plan the user testing sessions around your business objectives. We'll precisely define the research objectives, scenarios and who we're going to recruit for the user testing.
  2. Recruitment
We usually recruit 6-15 participants and work with specialist recruiters that can basically find us any type of person for the user testing, no matter how obscure. We can also recruit disabled users, as part of our accessibility testing offering.
  3. Facilitating sessions
We'll facilitate the 1-on-1 user testing sessions with participants always thinking aloud. Our moderators are expertly trained to ask questions and elicit thoughts in a non-biased and neutral manner.
  4. Expert analysis
Immediately after the user testing sessions, we'll review all the findings. We'll discuss all the issues and brainstorm a large number of possible solutions.
  5. Recommendation-focused reporting
We usually deliver a report, presentation and workshop, with all deliverables being highly recommendation-driven, easy-to-understand and tangible. How we report back to you depends on what we're testing and your requirements.
